Beach City Spring Classic Tournament

Beach City Baseball Academy Hosts Team Germany for little League Tournament

We will be hosting Team Germany, the German national little league team, during this year’s 12 and Under International Baseball Tournament. The two-day event will be Saturday and Sunday, March 28 and 29, with a 9 a.m. start time each game day. The Beach City Prospects will also play an exhibition game against Team Germany on Friday night, March 27 at 7 p.m at El Segundo Recreation Park.

The tournament will include the:

  • Beach City Prospects
  • Germany National Team
  • North Torrance Little League
  • Manhattan Beach Heaters
  • Redondo Beach Samurai
  • El Segundo Little League
  • South Bay Surf
  • South Bay Krakens

This is our first time hosting Team Germany, but after three years of hosting the little league world champion team from Japan, Kitasuna of Tokyo, sponsoring an international team at this tournament is now a Beach City Baseball Academy tradition.

Team Germany trains at the Deutsche Baseball Akademie in Paderborn, Germany, which serves the entire nation. The academy scouts, develops and coaches kids from Germany to play baseball. The academy’s highly specialized, world-class training prepares students for play in the European Baseball Championships, the Baseball World Cup and a variety of other high-level tournaments in Europe and around the world. Some notable U.S. Major League Baseball players who are Deutsche Baseball Akademie graduates include Donald Lutz (Reds) and Max Kepler (Twins).

“Sports are an incredible way to bring people and communities together, and team activities have been continuously proven to help children build confidence and improve social skills. It’s especially fun for the local Los Angeles families that host the boys in their homes,” said Beach City Baseball Academy Owner Richard Murad.

“We are very grateful that the German Team accepted our invitation because we want to expose Southern Californian players to the amazing and fun experience of sharing the common language of baseball across distinct cultures.”
