In memory of JP Penna, a founder of Beach City Baseball Academy the organization established the John “JP” Penna Memorial Scholarship Fund. JP was a passionate supporter of youth baseball who found meaning during his life by doing for others what they could not do for themselves.
Beach City Baseball Academy recognizes that sports aren’t just good for health and fitness, they also help communities by promoting social inclusion, have a positive impact on crime prevention, instill leadership skills and improve the quality of life. The memorial fund’s mission is to help address the rising financial barriers in youth sports and promote greater access to baseball by offering financial aid to little league and other baseball organizations to help these organizations in turn fund league sign up fees and purchase equipment for families in need. Beach City Baseball Academy’s goal is to give any child that wants to play baseball the opportunity to play.
Since its inception in 2015, the fund has proudly donated over 100 thousand dollars to many worthwhile organizations including the El Segundo little league, the Manhattan Beach little league, the Hermosa Beach little league, the Ojai Valley little league, the Inglewood baseball fund, Kitasuna little league of Tokyo, the L.A. Bulldogs youth baseball program and the John Muir high school baseball program.
